LeClaire Community Library Unveils Kindergarten Program Tuesday

Tuesday, March 12, LeClaire Community Library re-launches their 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program at an open house to celebrate the freshly completed remodeling in the Children’s Library Area. The event begins at 5 pm, and includes Storytime with special guest reader Dennis Gerard, the mayor of LeClaire, along with our talented staff readers. Clifford the Big Red Dog will be on hand to greet children and pose for pictures, and TJ Regul, balloon artist, will share his fun inflated creations. LeClaire Community Library Undergoing Renovations In February

The LeClaire Community Library will be recarpeted and painted in February 2024, with preparations underway now. This project will result in a unified color palette throughout the building, and better flow and flexibility in the library space. It was financed by the City of LeClaire, with assistance from the Friends of LeClaire Community Library. This project is also the recipient of a Hubbell-Waterman Foundation grant in the amount of $5000, to purchase new furniture for the Children’s Area. AARP Tax Aide volunteers bring free assistance to LeClaire Library

The AARP Tax Aide program’s trained volunteers are back in LeClaire this February and March to provide free tax assistance to anyone in the community regardless of age, income, or AARP membership. The volunteers can help with most tax returns including federal and Iowa/Illinois state taxes, though some restrictions do apply. Appointments will take place on Thursdays starting February 1 st and ending on April 4 th . Each Thursday has four time slots available: 12:30, 1:15, 2:00, and 2:45, with three appointments available at each time slot. Most appointments will be at LeClaire Community Library... Read More

FLOTSAM! is a troupe of musicians, circus artists, and puppeteers traveling on a handmade raft, giving free performances in riverfront towns along the way. The State Library of Iowa has announced that the LeClaire Community Library has met the conditions for state accreditation as outlined in “In Service to Iowa: Public Library Standards Sixth Edition.” Achieving accreditation requires a significant, ongoing local commitment to high quality library services.
