Davenport West Show Choir Hosting Westside Showdown Invitational

Davenport West’s Show Choir, West Connection, is hosting its second annual Westside Showdown Show Choir Invitational on Saturday, February 24th at West High School. The competition is open to the public. General admission wristbands can be purchased the day of the event at the entrances for $15 for adults, and $10 for K-12 students and senior citizens. Children under five are free. Concessions and spirit wear will be available throughout the day. Congratulations to Davenport West High School on being selected as a Special Olympics National Banner Unified Champion School! West High School and Central Dewitt Intermediate are the only schools in the entire state of Iowa to receive this recognition. DCSD Junior High String Festival Makes Sweet Music At Davenport West

The DCSD Junior High String Festival was hosted at the West High School Auditorium on Saturday, October 14th. 100 seventh and eighth grade students from our five junior high schools rehearsed for four hours with guest clinician, Dr. Kevin Price-Brenner, from Dubuque Hempstead High School. The finishing touches are underway on Davenport’s Veterans Memorial Park for Thursday’s dedication ceremony. Davenport West High School Art teacher, David Schaeffer, painted a 40-foot mural honoring America’s veterans that will be on display in the park. Davenport West High School Industrial Technology teacher, Andy Zinn, designed the structure that holds the painting and had his students build it.  Read More

Davenport High School Students Build New Home As Part Of School Program

Davenport North and West students worked on the construction of this quality-built, Student Built Home in cooperation with the Davenport Community School District and the Quad City Area Realtors. The students were under the direction of Craig Peckenschneider, Student Built Home Teacher at North High School. Today, was the Student Built Home Celebration where the students gave tours of this newly-built home to the community.
