Davenport’s Junior Theater is bringing theatrical lessons to a computer near you this week! The local theater will be holding online classes starting June 1. The sessions will last for four weeks. Quad-Cities Museum Week Postponed

Quad Cities Museum Week, previously scheduled for June 6 – 14, has been postponed. Museums, in partnership with Visit Quad Cities, determined that the dates were not feasible for all museums to participate because of current COVID-19 guidelines in the Quad Cities bi-state region. The museums and Visit Quad Cities will regroup in July to discuss moving forward with a September or October date.  Quad Cities Museum Week launched in June of 2015 through efforts by Visit Quad Cities and area museums. Isabel Bloom has decided to consolidate its Quad-Cities retail locations into its East Village location, cutting its Moline store after 30 years in business and its LeClaire shop after six years. Richmond Hill Players auditions originally set for this weekend have been canceled due to covid-19 concerns, as previously reported on QuadCities.com. The theater put out a reminder post on Facebook Friday evening: Just to repeat: auditions originally scheduled this weekend (May 30 & 31) are canceled, along with our June, July, and August shows. Red, White And Boom Illinois/Iowa Fireworks Show Canceled

There won’t be any bi-state fireworks along the river this year. The annual Red, White and Boom fireworks display in downtown Davenport and Rock Island has been canceled due to concerns and regulations tied in with the covid-19 pandemic. The date for next year’s event has been set for July 3, 2021. According to the event’s facebook, “Red, White and Boom always has been a bi-state event, and in the spirit of regionalism, we felt it was the right thing to do to move the event to a time when both states can participate.”  Read More

Join the German American Heritage Center & Museum on Sunday May 31 at 2 p.m. for a virtual program presented by Olivia Covert, Development, Volunteer, and Education Coordinator at the GAHC. The White Rose was a non-violent student resistance group in the Third Reich. These University of Munich students stood up to the Nazis, writing and distributing pamphlets that encouraged resistance and rejected Nazi ideals. As Illinois relaxes its social restrictions Friday (including allowing all gatherings of 10 people or fewer), the Quad City Arts Center, 1715 2nd Ave., Rock Island, will reopen Friday at 10 a.m. Free entry is available 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 5 Saturdays. The cornucopia of closures due to coronavirus keeps growing, as what was planned to be the 50th PGA Tour event in the Quad-Cities, the John Deere Classic, is canceled this July. Because of the continuing Covid-19 restrictions around events and public gatherings in the surrounding area, the 2020 JDC at TPC Deere Run in Silvis was canceled, tournament officials announced Thursday.
