Saw a pre-teen boy today in the grocery store wearing an Alex Morgan U.S. women’s soccer team jersey today. Told him I thought it was cool. He looked surprised that a.) I would recognize the jersey, and b.) that I would tell him it’s cool. His mom said “Thanks, usually nobody knows who it is, and if they do they give him a hard time about wearing a girl’s jersey.” But why would I? See The Fireworks Tonight In Illinois And Iowa At Red, White, And Boom!

The annual bi-state Red, White and Boom in downtown Davenport and Rock Island returns this year on July 3, 2023! Family-friendly activities will take place that evening in Davenport and Rock Island. At 9:30 p.m. fireworks will be shot, in sync to music broadcast on 97X, from two barges in the middle of the Mississippi River. Spectators can watch from free viewing areas along the riverfront including LeClaire Park in Davenport or Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island. Bring your own lawn chair. Red, White And Boom Illinois/Iowa Fireworks Show Canceled

There won’t be any bi-state fireworks along the river this year. The annual Red, White and Boom fireworks display in downtown Davenport and Rock Island has been canceled due to concerns and regulations tied in with the covid-19 pandemic. The date for next year’s event has been set for July 3, 2021. According to the event’s facebook, “Red, White and Boom always has been a bi-state event, and in the spirit of regionalism, we felt it was the right thing to do to move the event to a time when both states can participate.”  Read More
