Rock the River Six Feet Apart-y

QC Rock Academy and Rock Island Parks and Recreation department have teamed up to bring the Quad Cities a night filled with music, along the river. Rock the River “Six Feet Apart-y” will happen this Saturday Sep 26 from 5 – 9 p.m. at Schwiebert Riverfront Park (On the riverfront between 17th and 20th streets, Rock Island). This socially-distanced night of music will feature 6 of QC Rock Academy’s student bands. Admission is free and all ages are welcome. There’s plenty of room to spread out! Red, White And Boom Illinois/Iowa Fireworks Show Canceled

May 30th, 2020

There won’t be any bi-state fireworks along the river this year. The annual Red, White and Boom fireworks display in downtown Davenport and Rock Island has been canceled due to concerns and regulations tied in with the covid-19 pandemic. The date for next year’s event has been set for July 3, 2021. According to the event’s facebook, “Red, White and Boom always has been a bi-state event, and in the spirit of regionalism, we felt it was the right thing to do to move the event to a time when both states can participate.”  Read More

Dawn and On Music Festival Shining On Schwiebert Park

The Quad Cities’ grassroots music festival “Dawn and On” will rise over Rock Island’s Schwiebert Park Saturday! The day-long festival, now heading into it’s fifth year, had previously been held at Moline’s North Shore Inn in each of it’s first 4 years. Dawn and On has grown in attendance each year, exceeding 1500 attendees in 2018. The Quad Cities’ grassroots music festival “Dawn and On” revealed their talent lineup, at the same time confirming a venue change to Rock Island’s Schwiebert Park for the July 6 event. Another UFO Over The Quad-Cities?

Is ET shopping at HyVee? A third UFO sighting in as many weeks flew onto local radar over the weekend, this time over central Rock Island. Previous sightings have occurred in east Davenport near Bettendorf and in downtown Rock Island and Davenport, during a sighting of possibly two UFOs floating high over the Mississippi River from the Iowa side into the Illinois side and into central Rock Island. That sighting was likewise reported and demonstrated on video here on QuadCities.com. Do You Believe? UFO Sighted Over Midwestern Park

I’m not sayin’ it was aliens, but… It was certainly unidentified, definitely flying and presumably an object, therefore it, by definition was a UFO, and I, and my son and his friend, saw it slowly gliding over the Mississippi River and Schwiebert Park going into Rock Island, Illinois.
