It’s rare in life that you get a do-over, but this could be one of those opportunities for recently fired local radio personalities and the fans of their shows. According to the Des Moines Register, two shows and six jobs have been restored to local sports talk station KXnO, after those jobs and shows were cut earlier this week. Due to substantial fan outcry and outreach to the station deluging them with complaints, the jobs were restored. The Rock Island Art Guild, a volunteer-run organization founded in 1955, promotes and fosters the appreciation of the visual arts in the Quad Cities. Beginning Saturday, the Guild’s 41st juried exhibition will be installed in the Figge Art Museum’s fourth-floor gallery. Jim Fisher’s firing from WOC-AM after 40 years may be the most shocking and resonant layoff by iHeart Radio Quad-Cities, but it’s not the only one. After 60 years in broadcasting, 40 in the Quad-Cities, longtime afternoon radio host Jim Fisher has been let go by WOC-AM1420, according to various posts on social media, including one by Fisher’s longtime friend and producer Dan Kennedy.
