New Poetry Broadsides Exhibit On Display at Muscatine's Sunrise Galleries

A new art exhibit of poetry broadsides will be on display at Sunrise Galleries, 114 E 2nd Street, in Downtown Muscatine. The new art show is an exhibit of Poetry Broadsides, winners (mostly) of the James Hearst Poetry Prize, interpreted by artist-printer Julie Russell-Steuart. Broadside letterpress work was done by Caveworks Press & the North American Review. Tennessee artist Mark Mcleod will have his solo exhibition, “I only went out for a walk,” on display through Thursday, Sept. 16 at the Western Illinois University Art Gallery. The West Davenport Arts Council, in conjunction with Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities (MCC QC), is hosting an art exhibition for local artist Jen Hansen on the evening of Wednesday, June 30th, from 6-8 PM. Light refreshments will be served. Jen’s art is currently on display at MCC QC, located at 2930 Locust St. in Davenport, through the end of July. Jen is an outsider artist who found their calling while taking a class to teach therapeutic art. Quad City Arts is having an in-person artist reception for its current exhibit at 1715 2nd Ave., Rock Island, on Friday, May 21 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free and beer, wine and pre-packaged snacks will be served. Quad City Arts announces the open Call for Entries for public sculpture to be considered for exhibition in the Quad Cities on a one-year lease. Currently, the cities of Bettendorf, Rock Island and Moline participate in the program with their own selection committees who choose from the available sculptures for pieces that provide points of interest, inspire discussion, and attract visitors to the community. DAVENPORT – The Figge Art Museum will celebrate Quad-Cities Pride starting Saturday with its first dual virtual/gallery exhibition. Works by Cedar Rapids-based photojournalist Andy Abeyta will be in the Figge’s second-floor Lewis Gallery once the museum reopens, but will also be available Saturday, May 2, for online viewing at figgeartmuseum.org.
