Something that’ll make you smile, make you laugh, make you reminisce, and make you realize that back in the day, music video creators were probably either insane or heavily intoxicated. But were also incredibly entertaining. We call this feature, The Video You Deserve, and you can find it every Monday on your site for fun, free entertainment and features, QuadCities.com. Our latest video is from a British band which was massive in the UK during the first decade of the 2000s, but never really replicated... Read More

This Week In Artists In Conversation: Books To Spark Your Creativity To New Heights

Hi. Hello. I am an artist. You are an artist. And this is a conversation. So, technically it’s still Artists in Conversation… right?… This week’s feature has a little different slant to it. If you’re like me, 2020 took a toll on many aspects of your life and if you’re like me, you were always looking for some inspiration or something to keep you going. One of the things that helped me through were some projects, I guess (Circa’s Music on the Marquee comes to mind), but mostly… books. I wanted to share my top 5 books for artists for a troubling time, or anytime really. My... Read More

Diablo 'Effin Hot' Tacos From Tacobar Are Muy Caliente, Doc Says

Diablo “Effin Hot” Carnasada Tacos from Tacobar .The taste outweighed the perfect amount of heat. I’d go to hell for these tacos if they were always on the menu. Toby also lemme try his new to the menu chimichanga’s. Pictured is the pulled pork the taste on these is stupid good. 100% honesty I’ve never finished a meal from Tacobar? The portions are ridiculously big, insanely tasty, and I haven’t partaken in the Devils lettuce pre-feasting. If you tried Tacobar in the past, and weren’t impressed. Give them another shot. Toby Christianson is one of... Read More

Worshipping at the Church of Stephen Sondheim, Mourning the Legendary Master’s Death

Saturday in the Arts is a weekly feature covering a trend, subject, event or personality of local interest. It runs every Saturday morning on your site for the best entertainment and arts coverage in the area, QuadCities.com! God is dead. Well, maybe not THAT God, but did anyone ever see Stephen Sondheim and God in the same room? And now, He is gone – the legendary Broadway composer and lyricist died Nov. 26, 2021 (fittingly on Black Friday) at age 91 – but will never be forgotten, since we have the sacred texts. In recent years, especially since the 2016 death of my mother, I have had grave... Read More

Adele Has The Right To Do Whatever She Wants To With Her Own Body

Adele Has The Right To Do Whatever She Wants To With Her Own Body

I believe in bodily autonomy for women. What they want to do with their bodies is up to them, and they should have the freedom to follow their own paths. That informs my opinions on their health decisions, reproductive rights, and also more superficial topics. For example, Adele losing weight. The singer has been getting bashed by people online for going on a healthy weight loss routine and getting in shape. The people bashing her are saying that she should’ve kept the weight on because she was seen as a role model for people who carry a little more weight. But the thing... Read More
