Quad City Storm are inviting local folks to honor someone in the military by painting their name on the ice on Tuesday, November 5, from 10am-7pm at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline. The names will remain on the ice through the Storm’s home game on Saturday, November 9. All active or retired military can get $5 tickets for themselves and their family by showing a military ID at the TaxSlayer box office. Today is the final day for fans to bid on the Storm’s Halloween Peanuts jerseys online at http://www.QuadCityStorm.com!   The auction will close at 7:00 P.M. central time.  All net proceeds will benefit the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Rock Island which serves to provide opportunities for a diverse population through a variety of programs and services. The latest Illinois Youth Soccer rankings just came out today, and the EMSSC Spartans U12 team has leapt into the top ten, at the number 9 ranking! The team is 16-3 and has only lost to teams ranked in the top three from Illinois and Missouri. The Quad City Storm will be auctioning twelve specialty jerseys this season and giving 100% of the net proceeds to non-profits in the Quad City Area. In the inaugural season, the Storm auctioned off five specialty jerseys that resulted in a majority of the over $170,000 that was given back to local non-profits.  The Storm were awarded the SPHL’s Wanda Amos Community Service Award for their commitment to the community.The SPHL has taken the plunge into the licensed jersey world and contracted four brands to be used by all ten teams: Peanuts, Nickelodeon, Mossy Oak and Marvel.
