East Moline Teenager Eli Nache Representing Midwest At National Soccer Tournament

East Moline 13-year-old Eli Nache was among the players selected to represent the Midwest Olympic Development Program regional soccer team at the US Youth Soccer ODP Inter-regional Event being held in Orlando, Fla. Nov. 16-20! Nache, playing the 2 spot at right outside defensive back, was among over 100 players who went through the three-day tryout for the event from a pool of players from the Midwest region including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Sean Leary Soccer Camp Canceled Due To Coronavirus Concerns

The first annual Sean Leary Pre-Season Soccer Camp, originally due to run March 14-April 11, has been canceled due to concerns about the coronavirus. Illinois Youth Soccer Association has canceled all events and issued a mandatory cancellation order for events up through April 15 for all clubs in the state, and the camp is following that order. The decision was made not only out of concern for children attending the camp, but for their grandparents and younger siblings who are the most vulnerable to exposure to the virus, as well as parents and coaches. The first annual Sean Leary Pre-Season Soccer Camp is coming up and the deadline to register is March 14! The camp, for boys and girls born in years 2007, 2008 and 2009, will teach kids soccer fundamentals, including footwork, passing and shooting; attack and defensive formations; team play and game theory. The latest Illinois Youth Soccer rankings just came out today, and the EMSSC Spartans U12 team has leapt into the top ten, at the number 9 ranking! The team is 16-3 and has only lost to teams ranked in the top three from Illinois and Missouri. Last weekend, they finished second at the Peoria Oktoberfest after a thrilling 4-3 loss to Peoria, which was ranked #1 last year and is in the top three this year, but the road to the championship game included wins against three teams ranked in the top 15 and two in the top 10. The 08 East Moline Silvis Soccer Club Spartans were already ranked in the top 15 in the state going into the Muscatine Soccer Club tournament June 9, and after a thoroughly dominating performance, it’s justifiable to see them chasing a top ten ranking soon. The Spartans completely demolished their opponents, outscoring AYSO, Quad Cities Rush and the home team of Muscatine Soccer Club by a combined goal total of 18-1.
