Rock Island High School Student Council Holding Student Hunger Drive TONIGHT

The Rock Island High School Student Council is holding a student hunger drive to raise food for the hungry TONIGHT at the Rock Island vs. Quincy game at Rock Island Stadium at 6 p.m. The council will be collecting canned goods. People can get into the game for free with three canned goods (for children/students), and five canned goods (for adults). The team, coached by Juan and Christian Nuci, is undefeated at 15 wins, zero losses and one draw, and has been ranked number one in the state at the 2008 boys level since the beginning of the fall season in all but one week. Bettendorf Rotary Helping The Homeless With Acre Of Warmth Project

The Bettendorf Rotary is determined to make sure every homeless person in the Quad Cities has a blanket this winter. According to the nonprofit shelters in our area, blankets are the number one requested item. The Acre of Warmth project will run through the month of October. Bettendorf Rotarians are asking for gently used and clean or new blankets to be donated. The size that is most requested is twin but all sizes are welcome. The goal is to have 800 blankets donated which is enough to cover the size of a football field, approximately an acre. “We have had a great start with blanket donations,”... Read More
