Rock Island High School’s Fall Play was selected for State! Rock Island High School’s 2023 Fall Play, Pure as the Driven Snow is headed to the Illinois High School Theatre Festival. The Illinois High School Theatre Festival hosts over 4,000 high school students for a weekend of workshops and performances. This week is National Apprenticeship Week! We want to celebrate our Rock Island High School students who are enrolled in the U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program and thank our community partners who are employing them for these apprenticeships. These students attend RIHS in the morning and work in the afternoon at local businesses. Over intersession and summer break, they work full-time. Rock Island High School Students Sign Letters Of Intent For Education Program

Twenty-five students in Rock Island High School’s Education Internship Program signed letters of intent at a special ceremony yesterday. Education interns learn the foundations of education as well as gain hands-on experience. Interns work directly with district educators to observe and carry out a variety of classroom tasks and activities. Any student who goes through the program and graduates from a college or university with the appropriate education license(s) and endorsement(s) will be guaranteed an interview with the RIMSD#41.  Read More

On Wednesday, February 16, Rock Island High School’s African American Heritage Club (AAHC) hosted a black history program. The program was held in the auditorium for seniors and juniors to attend and live-streamed so the whole school could watch. View photo album. Rock Island's Kayla Rice Wins Emerging Leader Scholarship

Congratulations to Rock Island High School student Kayla Rice for being selected as the recipient of the Patty Viverito Emerging Leader Scholarship! She was surprised with the scholarship by her teammates, coaches, family, and Quad Cities who presented her with the certificate. This scholarship is given to High school female student-athletes that demonstrate academic excellence, leadership characteristics, and community engagement. Kayla will be recognized at a check presentation at the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Hoops in the Heartland Basketball Championship in March.  Read More

Rock Island Jr. High Schools Place 1st and Dominate Top 10 at Math Competition

Both RIMSD junior high schools are sending students to the State MathCounts Tournament in March. Edison Junior High School’s team, coached by Tim Carroll placed 1st overall at the MathCounts Chapter competition held at Black Hawk College. Edison also had the number one individual score!
