Scott Drug tradition to continue under Genesis ownership

Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt, now part of MercyOne, will become the new owner of Scott’s Thrifty White Drug in DeWitt, effective Dec. 15, 2023. The pharmacy will remain at 629 6th Ave., continuing a downtown presence that began when Scott Drug opened in 1962. The new name will be Scott Drug, affiliated with Genesis Health System. The hours of operation will stay the same. Current co-owners Patti Trenkamp, PharmD, and Jennifer Walker, PharmD, will continue to manage and provide patient care at the pharmacy after the transition to Genesis ownership. For nearly two decades, the Genesis Hospice Remembrance Tree-lighting has been a community tradition to usher in the holiday season and celebrate the memories of loved ones who have passed. The tree-lighting also illuminates the continuing need for access to quality hospice in the region. This year’s tree-lighting will be Monday, November 6 at 6 p.m. outside the Clarissa C. A new Emergency Department at the Bettendorf HealthPlex will open at noon on December 8, 2022, as part of Genesis Health System’s plan to optimize its emergency services in Scott County. The Emergency Department, at 2140 53rd Ave., Bettendorf, represents the first Genesis Emergency Department in the growing Bettendorf area and the first to be located away from a hospital campus. Due to a necessary water main repair, the City of Moline will be shutting off the water supply all day to the Genesis Moline HealthPlex, 900 28th Ave Dr., Moline, on Tuesday November 22. As a result, the Genesis Convenient Care, Physician Offices, Imaging and Laboratory services located at the HealthPlex will be closed. The service disruption, which is part of the city’s ongoing construction project on 26th Ave., is expected to be limited to Tuesday.
