Soccer fans are going to score big this weekend as the Quad-Cities First Annual Q-C World Cup debuts from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Campbell Sports Complex, 8399 29th St W, Rock Island! Join Quad-Cities Interfaith organization in celebrating all the people from countries all around the world who now call the Quad-Cities their home by watching their teams participate in the beautiful game. Rock Island Frieze Lectures To Focus on Old, New Pandemics

Given that 2020 is certainly a year for the history books, it’s no surprise that the 23rd annual Frieze Lecture Series for the Rock Island Public Library takes a deeper look at our reaction to global pandemics, past and present. Family Museum Presenting ‘Hotel Transylvania’ Drive-In Movie

Families are invited to the Family Museum parking lot on Saturday, October 17 to enjoy the movie Hotel Transylvania as part of a Drive-In Movie Event presented by the City of Bettendorf Parks and Recreation and the Family Museum and sponsored by the Friends of Bettendorf Parks Foundation. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the movie will start at 7:30 pm. Admission is $20 per car if registered before the day of the event. Iowa Women’s Foundation Gives Grants to Two Quad-Cities Programs

The Iowa Women’s Foundation (IWF) has announced 2021 Core Grant awards to United Way of the Quad Cities and Lead(h)er, for programs that help young girls and women. The grants are among $100,000 to 13 organizations across the state – raising the total granted to over $1.1 million since the program began in 1997. IWF works to improve the lives of Iowa’s women and girls. Grants are awarded to projects that focus primarily on serving the needs and aspirations of women and girls. Davenport’s Figge Art Museum Displays New Acquisitions

Many of the works the Figge Art Museum has collected over the past few years provide insight into modern American life from various points of view. Beginning Saturday, New American Scene: Recent Acquisitions to the Figge Collection will be displayed on the second-floor Gildehaus Gallery, examining some of these modern perspectives on American life with 15 featured works that have been added to the museum’s collection in the last five years. Horn Field Campus Opens its Corn Maze with October Hours

MACOMB, IL — This year’s annual visit to the corn maze at Western Illinois University’s Horn Field Campus will be administered in a new way to follow the University’s event protocol. The maze will be open Saturdays and Sundays in October, beginning Oct. 10. Reservations will be required to attend the activity this fall. Planning and preparation take on a whole new scenario as we want to do our best to maintain the safety of our participants.
