What's Happening Behind-The-Scenes At QuadCities.com?

Saturday in the Arts is a weekly feature covering a trend, subject, event or personality of local interest. It runs every Saturday morning on your site for the best entertainment and arts coverage in the area, QuadCities.com! Usually in this space, we look outward at the local arts scene, to present an in-depth feature on what’s impactful around the Quad-Cities. However, while thinking about what I was going to write about this week, I found myself inundated with work on the various aspects of QuadCities.com, and instead of rowing against the stream, I figured, why not write about that? Why... Read More

Quad-Cities Country Singer-Songwriter to Launch New Female Vocalist Series

When it’s in the upper 80s and sunny on Sunday, there may be no better place to be than kicking back a cold one at Go Fish Marina Bar & Grill, listening to the lovely Angela Meyer kick off a new local female vocalist series. REVIEW: “Beehive” A Colorful, Exhilarating Triumph at Rock Island’s Circa ‘21

While I had been inside Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse a few times over the past year (for interviews and an audition), I had not been back before Wednesday to see an actual stage show since January 2020. Like a certain Dorothy once said, “There’s no place like home.” And even with what seems like the final phase of Covid restrictions (patrons seated every other table, no buffet, servers wearing masks), Circa still dependably seems like a comforting, familiar home away from home for me. In the capable hands of Bootlegger Kathryn Calhoun, I was simply overjoyed to be back for a tasty dinner... Read More

Why Do Vegans Have A Beef With Me?

Why Do Vegans Have A Beef With Me?

Perspective. Context. They’re two of the greatest gifts you can give yourself throughout your life. Think about the things that seemed so important to you as a teenager. The people you wanted to date. The things you wanted to do. The goals you had, the friends you had. Of all those things, which are still important to you? Do the same thing for your twenties, or thirties, and every decade beyond depending on how old you are. Hell, if you’re a vampire, go back to the 1800s. If you’re one of the Eternals, ask yourself why you were sitting on your ass when Thanos was killing half... Read More
