Taste Of Ethiopia Is The Quad-Cities' Jewel Of The Nile, Doc Says

Next to the Mighty Mississippi River sits a hidden gem. Our own little Jewel of the Nile if you will. Taste of Ethiopia will bring you a new way of experiencing the Quad Cities, in a more flavorful way. Today’s review is somewhat sponsored and two parts. I sat down with Consumed Foodie , too experience this restaurant. While it maybe a new experience to us, I have a feeling we’ve been missing out. Families and couples flow through during our lunch break and order large dinner plates and laugh and carry on as if they were right at home. The patio which offers an amazing view of the... Read More

Talented Moline Artist Paints Buddy Bison to Promote Bison Bridge Project

If you’re at the Food Truck Fight on LeClaire’s levee tonight, or the Saturday Farmers Market at the Davenport Freight House, there’s a good chance you’ll see a bright blue and green newcomer. Buddy Bison – a big, colorful fiberglass statue – was painted this week by 28-year-old Moline artist Atlanta Dawn, to help promote the ambitious Bison Bridge project, to repurpose the existing I-80 bridge. She has volunteered with Living Lands & Waters over the years, the environmental nonprofit led by Chad Pregracke, who in March announced the Bison Bridge plan. Dawn’s boyfriend Cody Breecher... Read More

A Look Back At A Weekend That Lives In Quad-Cities Infamy: PickleWars 2021

“What’s all this pickle stuff?” Someone had the gall to ask me this yesterday. “All this pickle wrap stuff… what is it? Why is everyone posting about it? I don’t know what they’re talking about.” That’s a tragedy, folks. A real tragedy. An absolute shame that someone should be so ignorant and ill-informed on something so vital and important to our local well-being and civil moral and social fabric. But being a responsible journalist, I felt I needed to educate this person. And so, too, any of you who might be wondering what exactly has been... Read More

Doc Is Found Guilty... Of Loving Davenport's Gunchies' Pizza

So there I am driving home with my sausage pizza from Gunchies Davenport. I’m jamming out to NWA rolling in my 2007 Honda Minivan, Pepto Bismol for my tummy ache that’s coming from my eventual encounter with too much pizza and dog treats for my husky Abrodog Lincoln, all in my reusable Hyvee bag #savetheearth sitting in the passenger seat. I’m loving the new air freshener from Yankee Candle my wife picked out, Vanilla bean ahhhhhh that’s my jam. The chorus starts playing and my extensive 90s gangsta rap lyrics knowledge takes over. Let’s make something clear.... Read More

I’ve decided it’s time to close Crafted QC at the end of August. Why? There are many reasons, but at the end of the day it’s because of my own health issues. It’s time for me to step... Read More

PUCKER UP! Get Your Quad-Cities Pickle Memes Brine And Early Here On QuadCities.com!

I think by now we’ve all heard about the carnage, the brutality, and the humanity of the Great Quad-Cities Pickle Wars of June 2021. For those unaware, the owner of Cafe Fresh made a lengthy post the other day claiming that her Cafe was in fact the originator of the dish which has been floating around the midwest for almost 100 years, and lambasted Meatball’s sandwich shop for having the audacity to add pickle wraps to their menu. The Quad-Cities erupted in brine and bile, putting the Cafe Fresh owner in quite the pickle as she was called out by hundreds of people for not, in fact,... Read More
