Rock Island High School Entrepreneurs Win $10,000 At Final Pitch Night

On May 12, the Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation awarded $10,000 to Rock Island High School entrepreneurs at the Final Pitch night in the RIHS Auditorium. 5 student teams presented their products or services to a panel of judges in hopes of winning 3 different awards: Best Pitch, Best Business Potential, and Best Business Model. Out of thousands of entries, the Rock Island High School 2020 yearbook was recently recognized as one of the best yearbooks in the nation — the second year in a row that Rocky’s yearbook staff has received this honor. Herff Jones, a division of Varsity Brands and the leading provider of graduation and educational products announced its “best-of” publication, Portfolio, which showcases best-in-class yearbook work from students across North America. Davenport Central High Senior Awarded $20,000 Medical Scholarship

Winiboya Aboyure, a Davenport Central High senior, is the latest winner of the $20,000 Dr. Thomas Anthony Dooley Memorial Scholarship, to help her become a medical doctor. “We are all very proud of Winiboya Aboyure,” TJ Schneckloth, Superintendent of Davenport Community School District, said recently. “She has a wonderful future in medicine ahead of her, and we are thrilled to know that her career is off to a great start.” Winiboya’s scholarship fund of $20,000 can be used at any accredited college or university. The Illinois Quad-Cities will open up more today and leave many covid restrictions behind as the state moves into a “Bridge Phase,” dropping many covid restrictions on businesses and the public. Governor JB Pritzker announced the lifting of the restrictions this week, and said that he foresees a full state reopening by June 11, given the increasing numbers of people in Illinois being vaccinated.
