Rock Island School Students Stay Engaged With Fun Fall Programs

More than 100 students participated in Spring Forward’s Fall Intersession Camps! The camps were offered to any student in the district in grades 1st through 6th at no cost to them. During the first week of Fall Intersession (Oct. 3-Oct.7), students were able to choose between four fun, hands-on camps. They could learn art with the Figge Art Museum, science and nature with the Putnam Museum and Nahant Marsh Education Center, or Basketball and Swimming with Rock Island Parks & Recreation. Three principals will move to the Grants Department and Teaching and Learning Department The Board of Education approved new appointments of three principals at the Special Meeting on Wednesday, June 1: Lance Clark was named as Assistant Director of Grants, Assessment and Accountability. The 2022 Illinois 5Essentials Survey is available for teachers, parents, and students. The survey will be open on January 11 and close on March 11, 2022. The 5Essentials Survey identifies five indicators that lead to improved outcomes for all students, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. The five indicators that positively affect school success are: Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers, Involved Families, Supportive Environments and Ambitious Instruction. Illinois Junior High CLOSING Due To Covid Cases; Are More On The Way?

An Illinois Junior High, Edison Junior High School in Rock Island, has been closed effective immediately due to a major spike in covid-19 cases, the Rock Island School District announced today. Edison will close for an adaptive pause due to an increase in positive cases of Covid-19, the announcement said. In an e-mail, the District didn’t mention the number of cases but did say there was a rapid spike in the number of both students and staff having contracted and in quarantine from covid cases and potential exposure.
