Illinois Congresswoman Bustos Announces $3.9 Million to Tackle Polluted Brownfield Sites

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17), a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, announced that the Biden Administration has awarded Rockford, Illinois, $3.9 million in grants to supplement the city’s Brownfield Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund. The third IPREFER annual Pennycress Field Day will be held from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, May 26 at the Western Illinois University Agriculture Field Laboratory. Prior to the field day, a ribbon cutting will be held at 9:30 a.m. for the University’s new Agronomy Shed, at 285 Ember Road. The Black Box Theatre is excited to bring two premiere’s to the area. Auditions for Ride the Cyclone and All Is Calm will take place in May. Ride the Cyclone is a musical with music, lyrics and book by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, and tells the story of the members of the St. Cassian High School chamber choir of Uranium City, Saskatchewan, who perish on a faulty rollercoaster called “The Cyclone”.
