Galva Arts Council to Announce 2021 Summer Lineup at Saturday Event

The Galva Arts Council is holding a public event in Wiley Park in Galva, Ill., Saturday, May 1, to announce the lineup for the 2021 Levitt AMP Galva Music Series. At 6 p.m., Americana singer/songwriter Beth Bombara and her band will perform, followed by a viewing of a video which showcases the 20 acts which will perform in Galva this summer as part of the concert series. MIchelle Janisz Named Western Illinois University April Employee of the Month

Western Illinois University Director of Transitional Programs Michelle Janisz has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for April. Janisz began working at WIU in July 2001 as the assistant director of student activities. She left WIU in June 2005, but returned in August 2011 as director of student activities and coordinator of development. She transitioned to her current position in February 2019. Genesis COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic is now open to everyone on a walk-in basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.  We will continue to add additional walk-in hours each week. Check their website at www.genesishealth.com/vaccine The Genesis vaccination site is the former Dick’s Sporting Goods location at 5250 Elmore Ave., Davenport. Country star Jason Aldean will kick off the planned return of the Mississippi Valley Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021. Last year, the 101-year-tradition canceled altogether due to Covid-19. Before that, the fair announced no large grandstand concerts in 2020, and canceling of the big concerts previously scheduled, including Keith Urban and Pitbull.
