BREAKING NEWS: While Major League Baseball is scheduled to start spring training Feb. 28 and Opening Day is April 1, the Quad Cities River Bandits will return to play a 120-game schedule, with their season opener on the road Tuesday, May 4, 2021, against the South Bend Cubs. The River Bandits home opener will be on Tuesday, May 11, at 6:30 p.m. against the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Davenport’s Modern Woodmen Park. Single game tickets will go on sale Monday, April 19. Quad Cities River Bandits Become Kansas City Royals Advanced-A Affiliate

The Quad Cities River Bandits will move up a level of play and become a Kansas City Royals affiliate, whenever the team ends up playing again after covid-19 mitigations. Major League Baseball announced today that the Quad Cities River Bandits and eleven other Midwest League teams will be moving up one level of play, as the team and the league have been promoted from Single-A to Advanced-A baseball. Rock Island Parks And Recreation Rolls Out Reopening Plans

As we approach Phase 3 – Recovery in the State plan to Restore Illinois, the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department is making plans in accordance with the Governor’s guidelines. Phase 3 is tentatively scheduled to begin May 29th. If Phase 3 is put in place, the Department will begin modified programming for groups up to 10. The Quad City River Bandits will play their full 2020 schedule, despite an uncertain future after Major League Baseball announced its plans to potentially sever ties over 40 minor league teams, including the River Bandits. With the dark cloud of potentially having their major league affiliation to the Houston Astros cut, leaving them with an uncertain fate, the Quad City River Bandits officials remained mum on Monday, releasing only a cryptic post on Twitter. The Quad City River Bandits could be sinking, or changing ships, losing their affiliate as an official minor league team to Major League Baseball in 2020. According to an article published Saturday in the New York Times, a Major League Baseball proposal has been forwarded that would cut ties between 42 minor league teams and their major league partners.  The Quad City River Bandits, a minor league affiliate of the Houston Astros, are on that list. Meridian defeats Davenport in extra innings 5-4 In Babe Ruth World Series

Davenport and Meridian entered the nightcap session of day 3 at the Babe Ruth 13-year-old World Series both searching for their first win. Both teams committed costly errors, but Meridian would earn the win 5-4 on a walk off single by Layton Jenkins. In the 3rd inning, Davenport was the beneficiary of two errors as they scored two runs off a botched double play attempt. 2 batters later an infield single by Cody Depardo made it 3-0 Davenport. Davenport Drops Game Two In Babe Ruth World Series

In one of the night cap games for day two of the thirteen year old Ottumwa Babe Ruth World Series, Pearl City(HI) took on Davenport(IA). Pearl City jumped out early and cruised to a five inning 11-0 win over Davenport. Things were all Pearl City’s way in the first. Jayton Pang started with a double, Kelena Sauer then singled. But it was a wild pitch that brought in the first run. Next up Michael Yamaguchi singled followed by Bryden “Maka” Malama with a sacrifice fly to score Sauer.
