On Wednesday, February 16, Rock Island High School’s African American Heritage Club (AAHC) hosted a black history program. The program was held in the auditorium for seniors and juniors to attend and live-streamed so the whole school could watch. View photo album. Bettendorf High School Science Team Finishes Second In Iowa Science Olympiad

The BHS Science Olympiad Team recently competed in the virtual Iowa Science Olympiad Regional Tournament with 7 other teams and placed 2nd overall! The team received 1st place medals in Astronomy, Disease Detectives, Dynamic Planet, and Rocks and Minerals. They were also awarded 3rd place medals in Anatomy and Physiology, and Fermi Questions. Congratulations to Rock Island High School student Kayla Rice for being selected as the recipient of the Patty Viverito Emerging Leader Scholarship! She was surprised with the scholarship by her teammates, coaches, family, and Quad Cities who presented her with the certificate. This scholarship is given to High school female student-athletes that demonstrate academic excellence, leadership characteristics, and community engagement. Bettendorf Robotics Team Heading to Iowa State Competition

The UBett Robotics Team hosted a super qualifier event in robotics on Saturday for a chance to qualify for state. Students representing 24 schools and communities from all over Eastern Iowa including Bettendorf, Pleasant Valley, and North Scott took part in the competition. BHS was the first team selected for the Alliance that won first place for the entire tournament. UBett Robotics will compete at the State Tournament in Coralville along with 47 other teams on March 3rd and 4th, with a chance to advance to the world championships in Houston Texas in April. Ben Dixon has stood at the corner of 30th street and 31st avenue for the last 14 years making sure Eugene Field students get to school safely. He’s become a staple within the Eugene Field School community. “Every day Ben waves to all the staff and students. He knows who is at school and who isn’t. Rock Island Jr. High Schools Place 1st and Dominate Top 10 at Math Competition

Both RIMSD junior high schools are sending students to the State MathCounts Tournament in March. Edison Junior High School’s team, coached by Tim Carroll placed 1st overall at the MathCounts Chapter competition held at Black Hawk College. Edison also had the number one individual score! The following Edison Jr. High students will move on to the State competition.
