On Tuesday, January 24, 2023 all 8th grade students at the Davenport Community School District participated in an hour-long once in a lifetime international virtual presentation with Holocaust survivor Sol Nayman from Canada. This educational experience was interactive, allowing students to submit questions prior to the presentation so that Sol could answer them. All 5 of our Junior High schools participated in this incredible experience as Sol Nayman entered their classrooms via Google Meet. Rock Island High School student Aline Niyogusenga has a full plate in her senior year. On top of keeping up with her academics, Aline is Vice president of the Student Council, Vice President of the African American Heritage Club, a member of the Culture Appreciation club, a Student Ambassador, and a member of the National Honor Society and Art Club. Davenport-based manufacturer American Power Systems, Inc. (APS) is now accepting applications for its $5,000 award for new college entrants pursuing education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship is a merit- and need-based, one-time gift. Now in its sixth year, the scholarship is named in honor of the late Thomas Keenan Evans, a local engineer and entrepreneur who founded APS in 2006. Illinois Ag Students Compete in International Commodity Trading Competition

A team of Western Illinois University School of Agriculture students recently competed in the four-week international electronic trading competition, the CME Group Trading Challenge. The three-member team finished 356th out of 500 teams in the highly competitive event.
