American Power Systems, Inc. is reaching out to let you know the application period for the Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship opens on Nov. 30. The scholarship is a merit-based, one-time gift for new college entrants pursuing education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Davenport-based manufacturer American Power Systems, Inc. (APS) has developed two new lower turn-on RPM alternators with the addition of 60- and 90-amp, 48-volt high-output alternators to its product line-up. With these options, end users can potentially begin charging secondary power banks at even lower speeds, including at factory idle without a high idle kit, seeing results in even less time than before. (APS) is now accepting applications for its $5,000 award for new college entrants pursuing education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship is a merit- and need-based, one-time gift. Joseph Dryoel Named Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship Winner

Joseph Dryoel of Colona has been named as the 2019 recipient of the Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship. Dryoel, a June graduate of United Township High School (East Moline) and co-valedictorian of his class, will receive $5,000 toward tuition at Loyola University (Chicago), where he plans to study pre-health in the fall. “Joey stands out, not only for his academic achievements but also because of the unique way he became interested in medicine — through the arts.
