Rock Island Rocks Wrestling Tournament Champs In Back-To-Back Weeks

Rock Island Rocks are tournament champs in back to back weeks!!! The Rocks won the Lincoln Tournament last week in a 26 team competition with Lincoln Way Central, Normal Community, and Chicago St. Pat’s rounding out the top 4. This week in the 24 team Sycamore Tournament, the Rocks again took first, with Lyons Township, Elmhurst York, and Rochelle just behind them. Next week it’s duals with Lasalle-Peru at Home, at #4 ranked Geneseo, and the always tough Mahomet tournament. Post-season is just around the corner, Go Rocks!  Read More

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – – Western Illinois University alumna Aleah Pannell has taken on new heights since her time at WIU. After finishing her education and transferring from Springfield Technical Community College, Pannell graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in May 2021. While at WIU, Pannell completed an internship with Hutchinson Engineering and didn’t look back. MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Four new students in Western Illinois University’s School of Agriculture have been awarded Growing Agricultural Science Teachers (GAST) scholarships to begin their education at Western. The scholarships, based on financial need, are awarded to incoming freshmen or transfer students who have declared agricultural education as their major. Each of the students began classes at WIU in Fall 2022. Davenport West Students And Teacher Heading to Kenya Next Week

A group of four Davenport West students, led by their teacher, Mr. Greg Smith, are headed to the eastern Kenyan village of Muamba next week to implement a student-designed water filtration system that will help bring clean drinking water to an estimated over 22,000 people. West students taking the engineering, design and development capstone class have worked on the project for roughly six years. Students finished the model for the fully functioning water filtration system last year.
