Forget Kanye, I Am Formally Announcing My 2020 Campaign For President!

Forget Kanye, I Am Formally Announcing My 2020 Campaign For President!

Ok, so about 50 percent of you hate Donald Trump. And, about 50 percent of you hate Joe Biden. But, probably about 90 percent of you, whether you like his music or not, think Kanye West is pretty freaking insane. This week, Ye, as the kids like to call him, was more crazy like a fox with the brilliant public relations stunt of announcing he’s going to run for president. Never mind that he hasn’t formally filed to run, and never mind that he’s way past the deadline to do so or be on the ballot in a vast majority of states, so technically, he has no chance. The fact that he announced it at... Read More

Can You Become Addicted To Videogames?

Can You Become Addicted To Videogames?

“Fortnite.” “Overwatch.” “God Of War.” Know anyone who plays those games? Know people who say, or demonstrate by their actions, that they’re “addicted” to those games? Think they’re exaggerating? They might not be. It sounds like a sci-fi scenario, but from a logical standpoint, you could become addicted to video games. Much like anything else addicting, all it would require would be repetitive stimulation of the right portions of the brain, creating a psychological and physiological need. And given the practice of playing video games,... Read More

New 'Lovebirds' Rom-Com Flies High For Netflix

The hook is bomb. And the payoff is huge. Netflix hit the jackpot with their latest romcom. You know how some movies are ideal to watch on a plane? You know how that’s usually an insult? Given the times we see living in it’s welcome. Some films are pure escapism and entertainment and that’s what you will find with Netflix’s latest, The Lovebirds. With Michael Showalter at the helm, it was no surprise I really dug this Netflix original. After all, Showalter directed 2 of my favorite films from the last 10 years with Hello, My Name is Doris and The Big Sick. He has a real... Read More

Dirtying Up Soap Operas Just A Bit In The Time Of Covid

May 7th, 2020
Sean Leary

Over the last week, or several, I’ve been home, unable to do much but sit around on the couch and watch TV. In between catching up on the shows I’d TiVo’ed ages ago (“Barry” was excellent, BTW), I stopped by to sample a few minutes of daytime TV shows and soap operas. It’s pretty funny in a goofy way, catching up on the amazing, Dickensian plotlines being brought to life by over-actors on a daily basis. After all, how many other stories do I read that feature the names Bianca, Ridge and Alcazar? Even more entertaining are the plot rundowns of the soaps. Some of the descriptions... Read More
