The Davenport Public Library and the Rock Island Public Library are excited to announce a virtual visit with award-winning young adult author, Tiffany D. Jackson on Tuesday, March 9th! The Big Tip” is a Service Industry Event designed to help the Service Industry itself, put together by a non-profit organization called “The Big Give”. The Covid-19 social distancing and restrictions that started in March 2020, caused the unemployment rate to jump from an average of 3% in both Iowa and Illinois, to 10% and 16% respectively.The Service Industry is still suffering through another round of social distancing and restrictions that caused another dip in December in 2020. The past couple months have been a busy time in the private college presidential search business in the Quad-Cities. In late January, Augustana College president Steven Bahls announced he was delaying his planned retirement one year – from July 2021 to July 1, 2022. In early February, St. Ambrose University concluded its search process for the 14th president of the Davenport institution, naming Amy C. Quad City Arts Introduces New Creators For Educational Resources Project

In late October 2020, Quad City Arts’ Visiting Artist Series launched the Educational Resources project with content from 11 professional performing artists. A dozen new artists presenting a broad selection of music, dance, theatre and visual arts are joining the project as of Friday, March 5, for a total of 21 artists and ensembles participating. New Augustana Online Production Tells Illuminating Story of Autistic Boy

In the moving play, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” audiences get inside the mind of a 15-year-old gifted autistic boy. Augustana College will present a recorded live performance of their production online at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The 2012 stage adaption of British novelist Mark Haddon’s 2003 international best-seller originally was scheduled to be performed last December, but was postponed due to the pandemic. Quad City Arts announces the open Call for Entries for public sculpture to be considered for exhibition in the Quad Cities on a one-year lease. Currently, the cities of Bettendorf, Rock Island and Moline participate in the program with their own selection committees who choose from the available sculptures for pieces that provide points of interest, inspire discussion, and attract visitors to the community.
