Hug A Book At Rock Island Library Next Week!

Parents and caregivers can create some memories while they build a reader at Hug-A-Book: Create, a free event for two-to-five-year-olds and their families on Tuesday, August 27 at the Rock Island Public Library. The event is part of the library’s ongoing Hug-A-Book early learning programming. Families may drop in to try a variety of creatively messy art projects from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on August 27 at the Downtown Library, 401 19th Street. Woodwind Ensemble Blows Into RI Library

The Rock Island Library will host an impromptu music performance Friday, when the STEM Ensemble of Valparaiso University drops by. The STEM Woodwind Ensemble of Valparaiso University will drop by the Downtown Library on Friday, March 16. The double quintet will play from the mezzanine of the library from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, providing beautiful music for first-floor patrons to read, browse or study by. No need to travel all the way to the Rockefeller Center for outdoor ice skating! You can now enjoy this favorite winter past-time right here in the Quad Cities! The City of Bettendorf has officially opened the season for skating at Frozen Landing Family Ice Rink. The ice rink is located at the corner of Middle Road and 23rd Street. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 12-9 p.m., Friday 12-10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday 12-6 p.m. These times are also dependent on weather conditions. There is no charge to skate.
