Merritt Named Western Illinois University March Employee of the Month

Western Illinois University IT Manager/Director of Web Services Jeremy Merritt has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for March. Merritt began working at WIU in May 2001, as a microcomputer support specialist I in University Housing and Dining (UHDS), then was reclassified by audit to microcomputer support specialist II in May 2002. In July 2014, Merritt became the webmaster for UHDS and in February 2009, he accepted a position as instructional technology systems manager in uTech. In honor of Women’s History Month, Urban Exposure Independent Film Project and Azubuike Arts is screening eight short films written and directed by the summer program’s young women. The festival will be streamed for free on Facebook on Monday, March 15 and 22 at 6 p.m. Each screening will be followed by a conversation between the first-time filmmakers, host Gaye Shannon Burnett (president of Azubuike African American Council for the Arts), and a special guest independent filmmaker. Living Proof Exhibit, which provides the therapeutic benefits of the arts to people impacted by cancer, is seeking entries for its annual exhibition to be held from Aug. 16 to Sept. 30, 2021 in the Charles and Elizabeth Bisignano Art Gallery at the University of Dubuque. The Quad City Playwrights’ Festival is now accepting submissions for 2021. The festival will be held virtually this year. Submissions must be an original work, 10-minutes in length, a maximum of 10 pages, authored by one individual who resides in the Quad Cities area or is an Augustana student or graduate.
