Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. day Augustana College is hosting a panel discussion and movie, “College Behind Bars” .  It’s a four hour film directed by PBS’ Ken Burns & Lynn Novick and is available on Netflix.  The events on January 17th will highlight and explain how college in prison programs are part of the “dream of the beloved community” through the inspiring voices of formerly incarcerated students. Western Illinois University Unveils Colonel Rock IV Bobblehead

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – It’s a grand day for Col. Rock IV (aka Ray) as his sweet face now graces an officially licensed and limited edition bobblehead, produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, and today’s unveiling happens to be on National Bobblehead Day. The Col. Rock IV bobblehead sits on a base bearing his name and the Leathernecks logo. The AKC-certified English bulldog is wearing his official “W” jersey, and his ever-present Bulldog tongue is part of the statuette. Quad-Cities kids are being invited to have a devil of a time at a new After School Satan Club sponsored by The Satanic Temple of the Quad-Cities. German American Heritage Center Hosting Reading Club

Do you know someone between the ages of 10-14 who loves to read? Have them join the German American Heritage Center Reading Club throughout 2022! On the second Sunday of each month, students will be asked to meet -in person or via Zoom- to discuss that month’s selection, hear the perspective of others, and socialize with their peers. “In a time of need, the answer is simple, help.” Those are the words of Western Illinois University alumnus Riley Hintzsche, the agricultural educator and FFA advisor at Streator Township High School, in reference to a collaborative project to bring needed supplies to storm-ravaged Mayfield, KY. Adamson began working at WIU in July 2012 as the assistant director of Student Services on WIU’s Quad Cities campus. Davenport Public Library Goes Fine Free for Young Adult Materials and Rolls Out Auto Renewal System

The Davenport Public Library, as part of the RiverShare Consortium is pleased to announce that it will be even easier to use the Library! Beginning January 1, all RiverShare member libraries decided to discontinue collecting fines on Young Adult materials! This change comes after the consortium voted a few years ago to eliminate fines on Juvenile materials. Any fines that have been accrued prior to our kickoff date, must be paid to coincide with library policy. This new change only affects overdue fines.
