What Are The Cheesiest Hit Songs Of All Time?

What Are The Cheesiest Hit Songs Of All Time?

I used up almost all my sister’s voicemail the other day. It couldn’t be avoided. There was something of vital importance I had to share with her. Taco’s “Puttin’ on the Ritz” was on the radio and the event had to be recorded for posterity. Especially the part where the robotic voice says “super duper.” You get the feeling that’s the part where the producers were trying not to cackle in Taco’s face. I’m a sick man, I know. But what afflicts me is a malady that most of us share — a love of cheesy pop songs. Not bad pop songs,... Read More

Get After School With Thee, Satan! Moline School Hosting New Satanist Club For Kids

Quad-Cities kids are being invited to have a devil of a time at a new After School Satan Club sponsored by The Satanic Temple of the Quad-Cities. The post-school primer for potentially pointy-horned poindexters was announced through a flyer (not one using bat wings, but one that flew through an almost as demonic device, a copy machine) sent out to students this week, notifying them of a new after school club at Jane Addams (Family?) Elementary in Moline. The flyer proclaims, “Hey kids, let’s have fun at After School Satan Club!” The club promises arts and crafts, science projects,... Read More

It's Time To Put On The Ritz For Your Video You Deserve

It’s Monday. Yeah. We feel you. And so, every Monday, we give you a music video. A fun, funny music video. Something that’ll make you smile, make you laugh, make you reminisce, and make you realize that back in the day, music video creators were probably either insane or heavily intoxicated. But were also incredibly entertaining. We call this feature, The Video You Deserve, and you can find it every Monday on your site for fun, free entertainment and features, QuadCities.com. For our latest video, we’ve chosen a very special song. One which is particularly batsh*t crazy on every level. It’s... Read More

Thoughts On A Blacked-Out National Theatre Day

Thoughts On A Blacked-Out National Theatre Day

On this day – National Theatre Day – I’m taking it back to September 11, 2001. I know, I know… but stay with me. I was involved with Tom and Shelley Walljasper’s studio and we were set to preview  a new musical version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow on that fateful day and open the next day. I thought for sure we were going to close the show, or at the very least postpone the preview, but Tom made it very clear that what we are doing is an escape from what is happening outside. It was our job to do the show as planned, and let the 30, 40 people that were there get away from... Read More
