Individuals and families who are at risk of eviction or homelessness are encouraged to apply for emergency rental assistance through SAL Community Services. On Wednesday, December 7th at 5:30pm at | Eastern, Dr. Burl Randolph, Jr., a local author, entrepreneur, and retired combat veteran will present “Hard Work: The Mind of an Author”. Dr. Burl will speak on the topics of being a writer and author, the differences between the two, and determining if hard work is a factor for success for either one. Davenport Community Schools’ board of directors has won an Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) Team Achievement Award for 2021-22. The DCSD board is one of only 15 across the state of Iowa that earned this award this year. This week, a bill backed by Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) to combat sexual harassment and assault passed the U.S. House of Representatives with broad bipartisan support. Led by Congresswoman Lois Frankel and Congressman Ken Buck, he the Speak Out Act would void nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) for claims of sexual assault and harassment. Western Illinois University graduate students from the School Psychology program met recently to prepare for potential internship positions, beginning in 2023. Graduate students from the Specialist in School Psychology program meet annually with district psychologists and administrators to discuss internship, graduate assistantship and practicum opportunities. Since the start of the pandemic, student-faculty meet-and-greets were forced to shift from an in-person format to virtual meetings.
