The Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation is partnering with the Moline Public Schools Foundation and Alleman Catholic High School to host “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About College Planning” with Heidi Huiskamp Collins. Iowa Students Encouraged To Apply For Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship

The application period for the Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship is now open! The scholarship is a merit-based, one-time gift for new college entrants pursuing education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Every year, the scholarship awards one local Quad-Cities student $5,000 to pursue their education. Applications are due by Monday, Feb. 27, 2023. Late applications will not be accepted. New Freshmen and New Transfer Student Headcount Up at Western Illinois University

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Western Illinois University’s spring-to-spring new freshmen class has increased 18.18% from Spring 2022 to Spring 2023, and new transfer students have increased 18.75%, according to 10th-day data released by WIU’s Institutional Research and Planning. International student enrollment and graduate enrollment also increased, with total international undergraduate headcount at 191, compared to 120 in Spring 2022, and an increase of 59.17%. Governor Kim Reynolds announced during her Condition of the State address a new $15 million round of funding targeted at growing Registered Apprenticeship (RA) programs across high-demand fields in health care. The expanded Health Careers Registered Apprenticeship Program will support more programs that help Iowa meet the demand of its health care workforce. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Awards Child Care Business Incentive Grants

Governor Kim Reynolds today announced a second round of grant awards targeted at supporting child care slots through meaningful business incentives. A total of $443,234 will be awarded through Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) and the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support five projects involving 11 participating businesses that will help create 77 new child care slots. The grant will help increase flexibility in how child care slots can be supported or expanded through employer-sponsored child care.
