Lisa Bartusek, the Executive Director of Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB), is retiring June 30th, 2023. After 26 years of service to IASB, she is leaving a massive impact on Iowa’s education system. If you see a group of law enforcement officers running through the streets of Bettendorf and Davenport today – don’t panic! It’s all for a good cause. On Tuesday, May 16th at 10am, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics begins outside the Bettendorf Police Department – 1609 State Street, Bettendorf. De’Viann Titus-Porter, or ‘TP’ to his many friends, is a graduating senior at St. Ambrose University and football player. TP is also a graduate of North High School! Over the past school year, TP served as a mentor at Wilson Elementary School and today the school threw an event called ‘Bee the Difference’ featuring SAU cheerleaders and football players. Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation Awards a Record $141,200 in Scholarships

In a full Rock Island High School Auditorium, the Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation (RIMEF) awarded $141,200 to the Class of 2023 at its Austin Academic Achievement Awards and RIMEF Scholarships Night on May 9. 57 accomplished Rock Island High School (RIHS) seniors received $36,000 in Austin Academic Achievement Award (AAAA) scholarships and $105,200 RIMEF Named scholarships at the annual ceremony. The Davenport Community School District High School Apprentice Signing Day will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 at the Waterfront center in Bettendorf. During this event 55 students from the Davenport Community School District will be signing apprenticeships with area employers. The apprenticeships are a chance for high school students to gain real-world work experience.
