Sure Sign of Spring: Rock Island Public Library Seed Library Available

After a long winter, area gardeners are ready to plan and sprout their gardens, and the Rock Island Public Library is ready to help. RIPL Seed Library packets are now available for pickup or distribution by mail. The Seed Library is a free collection of seeds suited for the local growing area.  Seeds are available now for pickup inside the Downtown Library, 401 19th Street, Rock Island. The seeds are free, and no library card is required. Each household can pick up five free packets per month. Genesis Health Group will help speed up COVID-19 protection with a mass vaccination clinic to open Tuesday, March 23 for Genesis patients at the former Dick’s Sporting Goods location at 5250 Elmore Ave., Davenport. Vaccinations will be available by appointment only to eligible Genesis patients who reside in Scott County. Eligible populations are defined and guided by the Iowa State Health Department and can be found on their website. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) this week announced updated recommendations defining who should be screened for lung cancer, doubling the number of eligible Americans to approximately 15 million.
