MOLINE, IL – – Western Illinois University’s Environmental Science: Large River Ecosystems program is working with the city of Moline to study the concentration of phosphorus in the Rock River. “This is a proactive effort to determine how pending regulatory changes might affect the South Slope Sewage Treatment Plant,” said WIU Environmental Science Director Roger Viadero. Congratulations  to the Davenport Sudlow yearbook staff for receiving a third-place finish at the 2022 Lifetouch National School Studios Yearbook Showcase Contest! The publications were sorted into four divisions: high schools with more than 1,000 students enrolled, high schools with fewer than 1,000 students enrolled, middle schools/junior high schools, and elementary schools. Four former Buffalo Elementary students worked hard during their welding class at West High School under their instructor Andi Zinn, to create two custom bike racks for Buffalo students! MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Thirty-two Western Illinois University students were inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society during the chapter’s 51st induction ceremony Thursday, April 6. Admission to Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation only, and invitations are extended to the top 7.5 percent of juniors, the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students who have a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Davenport North and West students worked on the construction of this quality-built, Student Built Home in cooperation with the Davenport Community School District and the Quad City Area Realtors. The students were under the direction of Craig Peckenschneider, Student Built Home Teacher at North High School. Today, was the Student Built Home Celebration where the students gave tours of this newly-built home to the community. Western Illinois' Camp Rocky for Local Youth Celebrates 25th Year

This year, Western Illinois University’s Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Camp Rocky program. The day camp program is run by students at WIU’s Horn Field Campus, and offers local youth the opportunity to participate in camp-related programming and outdoor cooking. For more than 40 years, it’s been EveryChild’s mission to connect children and families with services that will help them to thrive.
