GARP Fest Moves From Codfish Hollow to Rock Island’s Schwiebert Park Saturday

For years, Moeller Nights’ GARP Fest has rocked the barn at Codfish Hollow Barnstormers in rural Maquoketa, quickly becoming recognized as one of the Midwest’s best events. But on short notice this year, the barn made the difficult decision to temporarily cease performances, leaving the beloved festival without a venue. After cancelling last year due to the pandemic shutdown, this comes at a challenging time. QC Pride is excited to announce that they will be hosting a week of events ending with the annual UNITY PRIDE parade during the week of SEPTEMBER 6 – 12. A Unity Walk for the Quad-Cities community will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, starting at the old YMCA in downtown Davenport and going over the Centennial Bridge. Fresh Films Seeking Teens For Weekly Filmmaking Program

Fresh Films has just launched applications for our 2021 Weekly Filmmaking Program. This program is free for teens ages 13-19 in Quad Cities and across the country. Starting in October, participants meet on Thursdays from 4-6:30pm to practice film production and technical skills and build a network of peer collaborators. Cart Race, Labor Day Closings for Rock Island Public Libraries

The Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th Street, will be closed from 5:00 pm Friday, September 3 through Saturday, Sept. 4, due to the Rock Island Grand Prix cart races. The Rock Island Southwest Library, 9010 Ridgewood Road, will be open during normal business hours of 9:00 am to noon on Saturday, September 4. The Downtown Library book return will be inaccessible during the cart races. Books may be returned to the Southwest Library at 9010 Ridgewood Road or to any other Illinois Quad City public library.
