Moline’s Mercado on Fifth Receives $50,000 Grant From U.S. Bank

U.S. Bank Foundation today announced a $1 million investment to 20 nonprofit organizations, including Moline-based Mercado on 5th Inc. – “driven by a diverse group of exceptional emerging leaders who are focused on creating effective community-led solutions toward the increasing economic disparities,” according to a Wednesday release from Mercado. Metro Offering FREE Bus Rides For K-12 Students This Fall!

In a really, really cool move and some great positive news, kids won’t have to worry about getting rides to and from school and activities this fall! Metro is offering free bus rides to K-12 students on their bus routes. Students need to show their ID for the ride, and as per existing rules, all passengers need to wear a mask on the buses. MACOMB/MOLINE, IL — Kirk Hare, Western Illinois University Facilities Management supervisor, has been named the deputy director of maintenance and operations. Hare has served as a supervisor for WIU Facilities Maintenance moving crew since August 2011. He joined the Facilities Maintenance staff as a building service worker in December 2008, serving in that role until his promotion to supervisor in 2011. Hare also owned and operated Pro-Clean in Macomb from 2004-2013. Thriller 'Murder In Green Meadows' Stalking Into Moline's Black Box Theatre

Opening August 19th at Moline’s Black Box Theatre is the psychological thriller “Murder in Green Meadows” by Douglas Post. The original production received six Emmy Award nominations when presented on TV with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. The Black Box production stars James Driscoll, Jenny Winn, Jonathan Grafft and Lora Adams and directed by Jacqueline Isaacson. Set design by Adams with construction by Michael Kopriva. Heather Norman Named General Manager of Tri States Public Radio

MACOMB, IL – Heather Norman, underwriting and outreach coordinator for the Tri States Public Radio (TSPR) at Western Illinois University, has been named the general manager. Norman replaces Julie Murphy, who has served as acting general manager since 2019, who stepped down June 30. Norman joined the TSPR staff in 2014 as the underwriting and outreach coordinator, and in 2019, assumed the responsibilities of the TSPR development director. Quad City Storm Bringing Hockey Back To Moline's TaxSlayer Oct. 15

The Quad City Storm has finalized its schedule for the 2021-2022 season.  The season will open October 15th at the TaxSlayer Center when the Storm battle the Evansville Thunderbolts.  The final home game will be played on March 5th and the regular season concludes on the road in Peoria on Friday April 8. The Storm’s home schedule consists of nine Friday games, thirteen Saturday games, five Sunday games and one Tuesday game.
