Quad City Storm Bringing Hockey Back To Moline's TaxSlayer Oct. 15

The Quad City Storm has finalized its schedule for the 2021-2022 season.  The season will open October 15th at the TaxSlayer Center when the Storm battle the Evansville Thunderbolts.  The final home game will be played on March 5th and the regular season concludes on the road in Peoria on Friday April 8. The Storm’s home schedule consists of nine Friday games, thirteen Saturday games, five Sunday games and one Tuesday game. Quad City Storm Sitting Out The 2020-2021 Season Due To Covid

Storm hockey will not return to Moline’s TaxSlayer until at least fall of 2021. Due to restrictions on mass gatherings put in place by the State of Illinois as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the Quad City Storm will be sitting out the 2020-2021 SPHL season.  The State is currently in Phase 4 of the “Restore Illinois” plan, which prohibits individuals from attending large gatherings without a proven vaccine or cure for COVID-19.  The current mandate would allow just fifty people to attend a Storm game. The 100-mile-per hour winds that pummeled the Quad-Cities on Aug. 10 produced more than power outages, downed trees and other property damage. The fast-moving, devastating derecho gave wood artist Steve Sinner of Bettendorf an opportunity. The 78-year-old native of Omaha, Neb., is an internationally acclaimed woodturner and one of his latest projects is turning a chunk of a large tree trunk downed in Bettendorf, into a beautifully polished vessel.
