Little Shop Is Far From Horrendous

April 6th, 2017

Little Shop of Horrors at Quad City Music Guild: A Review I recently had the opportunity to see Little Shop of Horrors at Quad City Music Guild. It is my second time seeing it at the theatre. Book and lyrics are by Howard Ashman. Musical arrangements by Alan Menken. The storyline is, to be sure, twisted. Adapted for the stage from the 1985 movie starring Rick Moranis, Little Shop of Horrors is about a dweeby man named Seymour who works at a flower and plant shop on Skid Row in Los Angeles. He is privately in love with Audrey, his coworker. Traditional enough set-up. But we work in a blood-sucking... Read More

Music Guild’s ‘Christmas Carol’ A Great Echo Of A Holiday Classic

December 7th, 2016

One of the great pleasures about seeing a show at Quad City Music Guild, or any theatre for that matter, is the chestnuts. The easter eggs. The little chocolate nuggets. The moments that happen upstage, behind a group of people, that you notice because you’re like Bill Marsoun or me and you’re watching everybody up there. A Christmas Carol, produced by Music Guild and going up at Prospect Park Auditorium, is just that show. The show, which only had a one-weekend run Dec. 1-4, was a great echo of the perennial holiday classic, full of great inside moments. Tom Naab (Peter Pan, A Christmas Survival... Read More

‘Children of Eden’ Moved This Reviewer To Tears

August 11th, 2016

Just uphill from a friendly little pond at Prospect Park in Moline, IL, lies an auditorium which is home to the Quad City Music Guild. As I arrived on the scene, I duly noted that the crowd gathering was a bit more distinguished and the staff was both friendly and professional. I made my way to my seat readied my writing utensils for what may come. Having known nothing of the play, I was unusually eager. “Children of Eden” is a play written originally played on stage at a religious high school. In ACT I, it tells both the stories of Adam and Eve and then Cain and Abel. In Act II, the story... Read More

‘Children Of Eden’ Rises At QC Music Guild This Weekend

August 3rd, 2016

A new production of “Children of Eden” is coming to life at Quad City Music Guild this weekend. Based on the story of Genesis, the age-old conflict of parents and children takes the stage in this epic, heartfelt Stephen Schwartz musical which is family oriented and kid friendly. Critics have called it a joyous, foot-stomping and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith… not to mention centuries of unresolved family business! An expansive and ambitious musical, Adam, Eve, Noah and the “Father” who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective... Read More
