Rock Island Parents Nominated For Parent Of The Month

Schools can nominate a parent/guardian who goes above and beyond to support the needs of children, our school, and/or our community. The winner receives a gift card, a bunt cake, and a sign that can be displayed outside their residence.

Krista Garcia nominated by Dr. Donna Beeding – Washington Junior High School

The parent, Krista, checks on her child’s progress in class. She has been most helpful in keeping her child on track to complete their work. She stays in touch with me to check on their grades. She demonstrates her caring towards her child, and she shows understanding towards me outside of the classroom.

Tolando Allen nominated by Sydney (Erichsen) Holland – Rock Island Academy

Mr. Allen is nominated for Parent of the Month because he sponsored 5th graders from our building to go on a field trip to a QC Storm Hockey Game in February. We are so happy and appreciate Mr. Allen’s generosity.

Kathleen Booker nominated by Linda Tobin, Amy Marshall, Mika Atkins-Jacobs – Thomas Jefferson

Kathleen is always willing to help with the Fall Book Fair. She will often purchase books for other students and books for her child’s classroom. She supplies treats for classroom parties. She donates candy for Trunk or Treat. Kathleen works and attends classes, but always finds time to help where she can.

Sean Leary is an author, director, artist, musician, producer and entrepreneur who has been writing professionally since debuting at age 11 in the pages of the Comics Buyers Guide. An honors graduate of the University of Southern California masters program, he has written over 50 books including the best-sellers The Arimathean, Every Number is Lucky to Someone and We Are All Characters.
