Bass Federation Swimming Into Quad-Cities With TBF Junior World Championship

Napoleon Dynamite will have plenty of opportunities to catch a delicious bass this summer in the Quad-Cities. The Bass Federation Inc. (TBF) announced today that the 2021 TBF Junior World Championship (JWC) is set for July 28-30 on the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities bi-state regional destination in Illinois and Iowa. The 2021 JWC includes a two-person team format and three days of competition, launching from Rapids City, Illinois. Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation Starts New “Heart of a Rock” Scholarship

The Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation (RIMEF) has a new scholarship for any Rock Island High School senior having a parent who has or has had a significant illness. The new “Heart of a Rock” scholarship was established by Megan Wilson and Triona Roberts, 2010 RIHS graduates, in honor and memory of their mothers (Terri Wilson and Yolanda Roberts) who both fought a battle with breast cancer. They want to support seniors who have undergone the unforeseen challenges that happen when parents are fighting illnesses, according to RIMEF. Quad-Cities’ River Bend Food Bank to Open a New Branch in Galesburg

The Davenport-based River Bend Food Bank and Galesburg Community Foundation are partnering to bring a new regional food bank branch to Galesburg. The branch will provide greater access to more nutritious and perishable foods for more than 50 food pantries in eight Illinois counties. It will supply food for not only the Community Foundation’s service area of Knox and Warren counties, but also Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Henry, McDonough and Stark counties. BREAKING NEWS: Anyone over 16 will be eligible to get a covid-19 vaccination in Rock Island County. According to the Rock Island County Health Department, the RICHD is expanding vaccine eligibility effective today to all Illinois residents 16 and older at its clinic at the Camden Centre in Milan. Appointments are available this week. There are also plans to have a second major festival outdoors on Saturday, June 12 to coincide with the 17th anniversary of River Music Experience.
