WQPT General Manager Interviews Set

Two candidates will interview Monday, Nov. 1 and Monday, Nov. 8 for the general manager position at WQPT of the Quad Cities at Western Illinois University. Dawn Schmitt, interim general manager of WQPT, and Matt Franklin, vice president of Lakeshore Public Media, will interview Nov. 1 and Nov. 8, respectively. While 57 percent of the U.S. population (age 18+) has been fully vaccinated, just 39 percent of those between 18 and 24 have been.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is ready to sign a new amendment that would allow employers to fire workers for refusing covid protocols including mandatory vaccinations, reports say. The Health Care Right of Conscience Act amendment bans employees from using their moral beliefs as a reason to refuse to comply with a workplace’s covid mandates, which could include mandatory vaccinations. A curiosity about the history of automobile dealers in western Illinois, and visits to search through the Western Illinois University Archives, has turned into a unique story of a Macomb man finding members of his biological family in the process. Gary Neuhardt and his wife, Marika, moved to Macomb from Arlington Heights, IL, in 2018, after retirement to be closer to family. This weekend the Storm plays host to the Vermillion County Bobcats Friday and Saturday at the TaxSlayer Center. Friday is Trick or Treat on the Ice Night presented by iHeart Media and the puck will drop an hour early at 6:10. Kids are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes to the games and will be allowed to come down on to the ice postgame to trick or treat with Storm players.
