From 4-8 p.m. Nov. 9, RockyTHON students will host its annual pancake dinner at the Macomb American Legion, 221 E. Local educators Julie Eisenband and Chris Strunk noticed a problem when it came to the representation of immigrant and refugee students in their classrooms. Lori (Wust) Menke, who had served as the office manager in the Western Illinois University (former) Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27. She was 52. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Wise Family Funeral Home in Roseville. The Moline Police Department partnered with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (D.E.A.) on Saturday October 23rd from 10am –2pm to dispose of unwanted, unused and expired prescription medications. The collection site was at the Moline Police Department (1640 6th Avenue Moline). Our volunteers had a great turn out and collected 6 full trash bags of unwanted, expired and unused prescription medications. That’s a total weight of 155 pounds of prescription medications. The prescription medications will now be destroyed at a facility where it can be done in an environmentally safe manner.... Read More
