Bettendorf Student Council loaded up the truck and finished up the Hunger Drive. got 2nd place and raised 53,000 lbs. That amount of food provides over 144,000 meals to our community. For perspective, that feeds a family of four 3 meals a day every day for 62.5 YEARS. BREAKING: Iowa covid-19 numbers are heating up as the weather cools down, pushing Iowa into the red zone of “high” contagion and causing some to call for a statewide shutdown and new mask mandates. The 14-day positivity rate of COVID-19 for the state climbed from 8.9% to 9.2% in the last week, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health. Iowa has had 8,047 new positive cases in just the last week. Of those hospitalized with COVID-19, 75.8% are unvaccinated, while 87.1% of those listed in intensive care with COVID-19 are unvaccinated. The Bettendorf Public Library is offering a look at World War II history through radio with host Steve Darnall. The Community Connections presentation will virtually host the radio historian on Tuesday, November 16th at 7:00 PM. World War II was the first war in history to receive almost continuous coverage on radio.
