German Center in Davenport and Rozz-Tox in Rock Island Partner for New Film Series

Davenport’s German American Heritage Center and Rock Island’s Rozz-Tox are partnering for a new monthly German film series, on the first Friday each month at Rozz-Tox (2108 3rd Ave.) To be streamed outside in the Rozz-Tox “Kinogarten” (German for “film garden”), the first flick is April 2 with “The Edukators” (2004), directed by Hans Weingartner, rated R. Each film is free and features English subtitles (no registration needed). Renwick Mansion Opens Registration for 3rd Witchcraft & Wizardry Camp

The Renwick Mansion, 901 Tremont Ave., Davenport, is already a pretty magical place. But for up to 20 lucky 8-to-12-year-old local kids, the dramatic 1877 landmark will be home to a four-day Witchcraft & Wizardry Camp July 26-29, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Registration ($175 per camper) opens on Thursday, April 1 – on a first-come, first-served basis. Several concepts and images were unveiled Tuesday by airport officials that include added amenities for passengers and represent the first major investment in the aging facility since 2001. The Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation (RIMEF) has a new scholarship for any Rock Island High School senior having a parent who has or has had a significant illness. The new “Heart of a Rock” scholarship was established by Megan Wilson and Triona Roberts, 2010 RIHS graduates, in honor and memory of their mothers (Terri Wilson and Yolanda Roberts) who both fought a battle with breast cancer. The Davenport-based River Bend Food Bank and Galesburg Community Foundation are partnering to bring a new regional food bank branch to Galesburg. The branch will provide greater access to more nutritious and perishable foods for more than 50 food pantries in eight Illinois counties. It will supply food for not only the Community Foundation’s service area of Knox and Warren counties, but also Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Henry, McDonough and Stark counties.
