The Davenport Public Library is excited to announce that the extensive renovation to its Main St. Library at 321 Main St. will begin on Monday, December 28th, 2020! For the safety of our patrons, the Main St. Library will be closed to the public beginning Monday, December 28th until the renovation is finished, currently projected to be March 2021. For our patrons who use the Main St. Library to pick up materials, this location will no longer be available beginning December 16th, 2020. The Sauk war leader known to the American settlers as Black Hawk fought and lost a war in 1832 as he tried to retake his homeland. His grave was robbed in 1839. The history books say his remains were destroyed in a museum fire in 1853 at Burlington, Iowa. The history books are wrong.
