Lisa Bartusek, the Executive Director of Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB), is retiring June 30th, 2023. After 26 years of service to IASB, she is leaving a massive impact on Iowa’s education system. Iowa Students Encouraged To Apply For Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship

The application period for the Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship is now open! The scholarship is a merit-based, one-time gift for new college entrants pursuing education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Every year, the scholarship awards one local Quad-Cities student $5,000 to pursue their education. Applications are due by Monday, Feb. 27, 2023. Late applications will not be accepted. Davenport West Students And Teacher Heading to Kenya Next Week

A group of four Davenport West students, led by their teacher, Mr. Greg Smith, are headed to the eastern Kenyan village of Muamba next week to implement a student-designed water filtration system that will help bring clean drinking water to an estimated over 22,000 people. West students taking the engineering, design and development capstone class have worked on the project for roughly six years. Students finished the model for the fully functioning water filtration system last year.
