The Davenport Community School District and the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach are sponsoring Family Cafes to help families navigate the challenges of raising kids. The QCA Young Adult Hiring Fair is connecting high school and college students to local businesses to help fill important job openings. Sponsored by the Mayors of the Quad Cities, the QCA Young Adult Hiring Fair is happening March 2 from 12 – 5 PM at the TaxSlayer Center. Davenport Community Schools Receives $10,000 Early Childhood Education Grant

The Davenport Community School District has received a grant from Governor Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Education for $10,000 to help build the future of early childhood education and childcare in the Davenport Community. The Blended Early Learning in Educational Foundations (BELIEF) grants were awarded to 16 Iowa school districts to facilitate a year of planning and research for local committees. Davenport Community School District Removes All Masking Requirements For Students And Staff

Tuesday, January 25, 2022, A Federal court decision ruled that a statewide injunction against the Iowa Mask Ban was a broader action than necessary. The case will now go back to the District Court for further review. As a result of today’s ruling, the Davenport Community School District will remove all universal mandatory masking requirements for students and staff throughout the district effective immediately per Iowa law. On Friday, January 21, 2022, the Iowa Chapter of Certified Public Accountants is personally donating a new book to several first-grade classrooms in the Davenport Community School District. Local CPAs will be reading, “When I Grow Up I Want to Be An Accountant,” by Dr. Adrian L. Mayse, CPA, to these first graders. The goal of this book donation is to educate young students about the accounting profession and encourage minority students, specifically, to consider learning more about this field. Davenport Schools Students Can Eat for Free in Coming School Year

All Davenport Community School District (DCSD) students will get free breakfast and lunch during the 2021-2022 school year, as part of the Seamless Summer Option funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that will allow all students to eat for free every day, regardless of income. Students and their families who would like to qualify for the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) or other income-based benefits must still apply through the school district on the Free and Reduced Meal Application to be eligible for the funding.
