Illinois Congressman Eric Sorensen Highlights Importance of Rock Island Arsenal
Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) issued the following statement in response to the Rock Island Arsenal Defense Alliance press conference held today:
“Recent reports that the Army is considering cutting hundreds of jobs from the Rock Island Arsenal have been very concerning to me, which is why I have been working with Republicans and Democrats to protect these critical national security positions,” said Congressman Eric Sorensen. “The Arsenal is essential to our military’s readiness, and I will continue to advocate for the thousands of my neighbors who help keep our nation safe and demand that the Department of Defense stop these cuts.”
Congressman Eric Sorensen represents Illinois’ 17th District in the United States House of Representatives. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for more than 20 years. His district includes Illinois’ Quad Cities, Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
